Humans learn to adapt rapidly to changing environment, during covid our normal way of life changed. We started to live through a pandemic, kept the doors open to everything we needed to live and survive. There was panic, fear, and the feeling of helplessness, but we learned, and we adapted to the new way of living.

Education was no different, out of nowhere, we all were zooming, teaming, webexing and God knows what other tools we all started using. Adapting was not an issue for people with means, unfortunately the less fortunate did not have the means nor was there any help available in the short term.

Virtual learning has become the new normal, and with that came the new set of problems. School districts tried their best to engage with the students, they had to recreate curriculum, teaching materials, retrain teachers in conducting online sessions, and above all ensuring students have a stable Wi-Fi network, so that they can be present for their classes.

All this was happening, while our young kids were becoming restless - the interaction with friends was limited to a phone or zoom, something most kids did not want. During pandemic, the high school dropout rate was exceptionally high, roughly 1.35M students dropped out from high school, the numbers are growing and there is no slowing down the new trend.

1Journey.ai, is a tool that plans to engage with these students virtually, bring them back to school so that they can finish what they started and enter a college for further education. The statistics are alarming, if no action is taken today, we will have 7.4M students without a high school diploma by 2028 - a student who has a high school diploma earns ~$10-12K more per year than someone who did not matriculate high school.

College education has its own benefits, for starters income potential of a college graduate is much higher than someone who had not completed high school, difference is ~$30K or higher per year.

1Journey.ai is a platform build to address many questions, but the most important question it addresses is to motivate students to come back and start the learning journey again, and while learning explore our communities and interact with other students, explore ideas, create music, form a book club, etc., and with idea factory learn to research and cultivate business cases, explore how a successful business can be set up, all under the guidance of our Board members, mostly alums, and Professors from MIT.
